This Trade Mission to Doha, Qatar, took place from 11th to 14th October and offered delegates specialising in Healthcare and Education & Training the opportunity to take advantage of the increasing business prospects within these key sectors. Education, training and research are priority areas for Qatar and a massive programme is underway to increase investment in healthcare in a multitude of areas. This mission had the full support of the British Embassy in Doha.
 


About the mission:

The programme will include sector specific meetings with Ministries, the public and the private sector.

  • From 11th to 14th October Pathfinder Trade & Invest led a Healthcare and Education sector Trade Mission to Doha, Qatar.
  • The mission has the full support of UKTI Doha who will be instrumental in arranging the mission programme.
  • The mission was led by Michael Thomas, Executive Chairman and CEO of Pathfinder Middle East, a leading expert on the Middle East.

  • The programme was specifically arranged based upon the confirmed mission delegates profiles and sectors of interest.
  • Meetings included the Supreme Council of Health, Supreme Education Council, the Qatar Foundation, Universities, Colleges, Hospitals, Medical Distributors, Lusail City etc.
  • A mission brochure was produced to promote delegate's companies both prior to, and during, the mission.

  • This mission was open to both new and experienced exporters including, but not limited to: education and training providers; schools, vocational education and training, higher education and CPD/professional training, the building and operation of international schools, British training materials and software, healthcare training providers, medical equipment and devices, medical staff, research staff and R&D, pharmaceuticals, specialised furniture, software and robotics.

  • Education & Training – The Qatar education and training market has been identified by UKTI as a high value opportunity(HVO) for the UK with significant potential for future business – accessible value to the UK in excess of £100million. Training and research are priority areas. Links with the UK are growing and the Qataris are keen to see a larger presence from the UK.
  • Healthcare – Qatar has a massive programme underway to increase investment in healthcare including the development of world class hospitals, research laboratories and primary healthcare facilities. Qatar’s aim of providing effective healthcare services is coupled with aspirations to become a research and development (R&D) centre, including in the area of life sciences.
